DEM/DTM

The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is a fundamental spatial dataset with numerous applications in geospatial surveys. Elevation information derived from DEM plays a crucial role in cadastral surveys, infrastructure planning, hydrological modeling, and environmental assessments.

DEM can be generated through photogrammetric techniques using stereo aerial images and high-resolution stereo images from satellites. Additionally, DEMs can be derived from Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR) images and LiDAR point clouds. It's important to note that the resolution and accuracy of DEMs vary depending on the method used.

SAR-based DEMs may not offer very high resolution, limiting their usability. On the other hand, generating DEMs from LiDAR point clouds has its own challenges, especially when dealing with vast areas.
